Ice Axe Training 2008
The ice axe arrest training in May was a great experience. We drove up to Snoqualmie Pass and got out the snowshoes and ice axes. After we were all settled and had taken a crash course in snow hiking with Mr. Brzoska and Mr. Hogan, we headed out. We arrived at the area for arrest practice, started up the hill with our ice-axes, and got into position on two slide runs. We learned three different ways to arrest, and two types of glissading. After that, we ate lunch and packed our gear up before we left. On the way back, many of us were soggy but all of us were warm. - AMG
