Leave No Trace Certification 2008

Our campout at Fire Mountain Scout Camp was cold. We got there on the 18th of April and it was warm but then it started snowing. We set up camp the first night and started to prepare our beds. The first night was uneventful but the second day was great. We woke up to a fresh layer of snow.

We then packed up to go to the leave no trace certification. We took a test with questions about how to leave less of an impact on the outdoors. After that, we demonstrated those methods outside and made lunch near our tents there. After lunch we went on a small hike with real life tests of our awareness and ability to leave no trace. Later we received a passing grade and went back to camp to fish.

Nobody caught much except for tree branches but it was still fun. We stayed one extra night and had a great campfire where we listened to stories and then we went to bed. We woke up in the morning then left the next morning after a warm breakfast of oatmeal and mangos. We returned home in the afternoon and stowed the gear after another fun camp-out. - AMG
