Commonwealth Basin 2009

In January we went on a snowshoe day hike to Commonwealth Basin in Snoqualamie Pass, although the snowshoes were unnecessary as the snow was packed enough to let people walk without them.

Around 13 Scouts went on the trip. The hike followed the Pacific Crest trail for two miles through old growth forest. Some interesting parts included a breathtaking view of the basin itself and a frozen waterfall. There was about 6 feet of snow as seen in this photo. The hike was about 4-5 hours in total. Everybody hiked up to a clearing for lunch in the sun, and then hiked out. It was a great outing. - JFW
