Gold Creek 2010

Gold Creek was a great snowshoe hike. We left the church at around 9am, with about 12 Boy Scouts, 3 Webelos, and 7 adults, and arrived at the trailhead around an hour later. The trail had around 3-5 feet of snow, and the weather was a little overcast, but not super cold.

The trail was good and even, and with snowshoes on we made good time to where we ate lunch. The snow was very crunchy on top because it had frozen without much new powder, but most of it was trodden down and easy to walk on. Gold Creek was visible for most of the time, and there were great views in the clear areas.

We stopped for lunch at around 12:30 and made a nice spot to sit and eat right by the trail. We boiled water for cocoa and oatmeal, and ate our lunches while some Scouts played in the snow. We tore our little site down around an hour later and left. The trip took us about an 1 hour each way. - AMG
